Why both trades
Most shops specialize, and there are good reasons to. Mechanical repair and car electronics work — what the trade calls “12-volt”, after the car’s electrical system — need different tools, different training and different benches. Doing both properly is harder than doing one.
We kept both anyway, because the split never made sense from the customer’s side of the counter. A car is one object. When your stereo install causes a parasitic battery drain, or a corroded ground strap makes your amplifier hum, the problem does not care which trade owns it. Somebody has to look at the whole vehicle.
So the same shop that replaces your timing chain also builds your subwoofer enclosure. The same people who chase down an intermittent electrical fault on a Tuesday are the ones wiring your remote starter on a Wednesday. It makes us unusual in Kenosha, and it is the single most useful thing about us.
How we work
The thing people dislike about auto repair is not the money. It is the feeling of being told something is necessary and having no way to check. We try to remove that in the most boring way possible: diagnose the fault properly, explain it in plain language, quote it, and then wait.
Nothing gets done that you have not agreed to. If we open something up and find a second problem, you get a phone call, not a bigger invoice. If a repair can safely wait until next month, we will tell you that too — we would rather have you as a customer for ten years than get everything out of you in one visit.
Everything we do carries a warranty. Ask us for the specific terms when you get your estimate; they vary depending on the job and the parts.
What we will not do
We will not tell you a repair is worth it when it is not. On an older Kenosha car with a badly corroded underside, putting several thousand dollars into an engine is often the wrong call, and we will say so even though it costs us the job. A straight answer is worth more to both of us.
