Auto repair

Auto repair in Kenosha, WI

Check-engine lights, strange noises, things that only happen when it’s cold — bring it to 32nd Avenue and we’ll find out what’s actually wrong before anyone starts replacing parts.

One shop for the whole vehicle

Most repair shops in Kenosha send you somewhere else the moment the job crosses a line — the mechanic won’t touch wiring, the stereo shop won’t touch the engine, and you end up making three appointments for one car.

We have been working on vehicles for over 29 years, and we kept both sides of the trade under one roof on purpose. The same shop that replaces your timing chain also runs the wiring for your remote starter. That matters more than it sounds: a lot of “electrical gremlins” turn out to be someone else’s installation, and we can see the whole picture.

Every repair we do carries a warranty, and loaner vehicles are available to rent if your car has to stay with us.

What the job covers

  • Computerized diagnostic scan and road test
  • Check-engine and warning-light diagnosis
  • Suspension, steering, struts and shocks
  • Electrical faults, wiring and charging systems
  • Cooling systems and coolant flushes
  • Exhaust, sensors and emissions-related repairs
  • Windshield wipers, bulbs and small fixes
  • Auto body work and rust repair

How we approach a repair

Diagnose first, quote second, repair third. You approve the work before we start it.

Diagnose properly

A scan tool gives a code, not an answer. We test the circuit or component the code points at so you pay to fix the fault, not to swap parts until the light goes out.

Explain it in plain English

You get told what failed, what it affects, what happens if you wait, and what it costs. If something can safely wait until next paycheck, we say so.

Back the work

Repairs are warrantied. If something we fixed is not right, bring it back to the same shop and the same people who did it.

Bring it in when

Signs it is time to stop putting it off

None of these fix themselves, and most get cheaper the sooner they are looked at.

  • The check-engine light is on, flashing, or comes and goes
  • A noise that changes with speed, braking or turning
  • The car pulls, wanders, or the steering feels loose
  • Overheating, sweet smell, or coolant on the driveway
  • Rough idle, hesitation, or a stall at a stop sign
  • Hard starting on cold mornings
  • Vibration through the seat or steering wheel
  • A puddle under the car that is not clear water

In Kenosha

What a Kenosha winter does to a car

Cars here live a harder life than the maintenance schedule assumes. Kenosha runs salt and brine on the roads from roughly November through March, and being a mile from Lake Michigan means damp, salt-carrying air for much of the year on top of that.

The visible result is body rust. The expensive result is underneath: brake and fuel lines, exhaust hangers, suspension hardware, subframe bolts and electrical connectors all corrode from the outside in. A ten-year-old car that lived in Kenosha its whole life needs a different inspection than the same car from a dry state.

That is why we look under the vehicle on every service, not just when you ask. Finding a brake line before it lets go is a cheap repair. Finding it afterward is a tow.

Questions we get asked

Do I need an appointment?

Call first — 262-484-4454. Some work we can take same-day, and some needs a bay and parts lined up. A two-minute phone call tells you which one you are looking at.

Will you tell me what it costs before you do the work?

Yes. We diagnose the problem, then quote it, then wait for you to approve it. If we open something up and find a second problem, you get another call before anything else happens.

Do you warranty your repairs?

We provide a warranty on the work we do. Terms depend on the repair and the parts used, so ask when you get your estimate and we will tell you exactly what is covered.

Can I get a car while mine is being fixed?

Loaner vehicles are available to rent. Ask when you book, since availability depends on the day.

Do you work on my make?

We handle most domestic and import cars, SUVs and light trucks. If your vehicle needs something we cannot do properly — certain dealer-only programming, for example — we will tell you that instead of guessing at it.

Can you look at something another shop already worked on?

Yes, and we do it fairly often. Bring the previous invoice if you still have it. It saves diagnostic time and tells us what has already been ruled out.

Not sure what that noise is?

Describe it on the phone. Nine times out of ten we can tell you whether it is a “come in today” or a “bring it Saturday” before you drive over.
